Vacancy: Packing & Despatch

The Company

We launched a new industrial product range in 2014, recruited more sales staff and demand for the company’s industrial products has increased considerably.

We are now launching a new product for the architectural market and we anticipate further growth throughout 2016.

In the entertainment market, our lights were across the front of the stage for Party at the Palace for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. We provided the stage lighting for Jay Z’s Magna Carta tour in 2013/14, Take That’s current tour and Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and Manchester.

In the architectural market, notable installations include Madame Tussauds (London), Bahrain World Trade Centre, Millennia Tower (Singapore), Centennial Tower (Singapore), Bahrain Islamic Bank, the Dominion Theatre (London), Old Vic Theatre (London) Centerparcs and other notable landmarks across the world including bridges, hotels, cathedrals and high-rise office buildings.

Role

Reporting to the Assembly Manager, the position focuses on the packing of high value, manufactured-to-order luminaires, picking customer orders, palletising and despatching. There is continuous liaising throughout the working day with the customer service team who are in contact with our sales team and customers throughout the world.

Typical duties include:

  • Packing luminaires, checking pack contents against a despatch list

Compiling customer orders

Palletising larger customer orders

Preparing documentation for shipment and customs

Receipt of incoming goods

Education required         GCSE / Scottish or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Fork Lift Truck license
  • No other specific qualifications or prior experience is required for the role but candidates with previous experience of working in a packing or despatch role will be preferred.
  • This is a vital role in the operation of the company, accuracy and reliability is required.
  • The company places a high value on teamwork and flexibility and operates a collaborative rather than a competitive environment.
  • Training and support will be provided as appropriate.

Working Hours

The packing and despatch role operates five days a week from Monday to Friday.
From time to time, when customer demand increases, there is an opportunity to work overtime.

Typical duties include:

  • Assembling products from parts and subassemblies
  • Soldering electronic components onto printed circuit boards
  • Preparation of components and subassemblies prior to assembly (e.g. preparing wiring, power supplies)

We currently operate a four day working week, with most members of the team working 10 hours each day for four days a week, leaving a three day weekend.

Sales Administrator Role

Working in our Cambridge office we are looking for a Sales Administrator to join our small but friendly team in Architectural and Entertainment sales.

Your role will be to support the sales team within the Architectural and Entertainment sales division as well as processing orders, liaising with clients and producing customer facing quotations and letters along with detailed reports for the Sales Managers.

You are a team player with a high level of self-motivation for getting things done, and finding solution. Strong personal confidence is also required along with a professional and confident telephone manner. Job training will be provided for the right candidate and there are good opportunities for career growth.
