Wine Tasting in a New Light

A new way to experience wine   Pulsar are proud to have helped once again with the annual E-luminate festival in Cambridge. Taking place at the popular Hotel du Vin restaurant, the E-luminate wine tasting event is a uniquely colourful experience. Visitors sample different wines, each with a complimentary lighting scheme. Pulsar’s Snowy Johnson programmed the fixtures for the event. The lights are configured remotely via RDM and using a Pharos system to intelligently pick or play back preset looks. Our Luxeos 18 floodlights provided illumination for the event, complete with version 2.0 electronics… More information on that coming soon! The E-Luminate festival is packed with fantastic installations and events and takes place until the 14th February. LED Lighting Solutions

Mallaig Marina – Lighting a Cliff Face

Mallaig Marina   In mid 2016, a client contacted Pulsar to help solve some problems with an installation in a remote location.   A challenging installation   A year earlier, the client had purchased 29x 30W RGBW floodlights to illuminate an 80m long rock face at the Mallaig Marina on the west coast of the Highlands in Scotland. The lights were to provide an eye-catching view for boats and ferries passing/entering the marina. Sadly however, one-by-one the units started to fail. Unable to resolve the problems with these lights, the client needed a quick and robust solution. The project proved to be challenging; firstly, the harsh extremities of the marine environment and climate called for a very robust fixture. Additionally, the natural rock face varied in heights from 5-8m in places, and so we could only position luminaires at varying distances of between 0.5m and 2m away from the rock face. We also needed to consider the numerous LED streetlights

Pulsar Highly Commended at Lux Awards

Lux Awards Intercontinental Hotel – O2 Arena – London   On the 16th November, we attended the Lux Awards at the stunning Intercontinental hotel, at the O2 Arena, London. Having been nominated for our work at Elgin Bridge in Scotland, we are honoured to have been ‘highly commended’ by the panel of judges at this year’s Lux Awards. The awards ceremony brought together lighting designers, manufacturers and intermediaries from across the UK, celebrating the best products and projects from across the United Kingdom. With the bridge having been a target of vandalism, Pulsar worked with the local authorities and installers to make the installation at Elgin Bridge a success. Key to the success was the recycling of damaged luminaires and repainted vandalised housings, using extra tough materials. This made the project a perfect fit for the ‘recycling’ category of the Lux Awards. Click here to read more about the project. We were bowled over by the sheer

Everyone’s a Winner

Pulsar held an open evening for Cambridge Architects and Lighting Designers. The evening consisted of a short presentation followed by a Architectural lighting demonstration. Architects and Designers from Cambridge had the opportunity of meeting members of Pulsar’s team, ranging from Technicians to Engineers, with the opportunity to interact with various product lines, including the Latest Luxeos Range. At the end of an informal yet entertaining evening, Pulsar gave all who attended a chance to win an iPad. The lucky candidate was Jon Capper. Pulsar Highlights Natural Stone Campus

Pulsar recently added to it’s ever-growing list of Middle East projects with completion of Phases 1 & 2 at the Royal University for Women in Bahrain. A female-only university, the university stands proud in the wealthy Awali district (which is also home to the royal palace and many of Bahrain’s elite). A very select student population consists of members of the royal family, and daughters of diplomats and government officials from Bahrain, and across the GCC, who come to study Fashion, Art and Business amongst many other disciplines. The initial degree programmes of the university were designed in collaboration with McGill University in Canada and Middlesex University in the United Kingdom. After testing on-site with various products, colours and beam angles, Pulsar’s EcoFlood 60 was selected by the University - both for high quality and durability of the fixtures, and their proven ability to survive in the searing heat, high humidity & marine-like conditions.
