Castell Coch, Wales

Located near Cardiff, the heritage of Castell Coch dates back to the Norman conquest of Wales. Whilst the first castle at the site was built in the 11th century as a Norman fortress to defend Cardiff, the current castle was constructed in the 1800’s. Featuring a gothic revival exterior with high Victorian interiors, no expense was spared, and the castle has been described as ‘one of the great triumphs of Victorian architectural composition.’ The castle is now in the care of Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh government. The site is open daily to the general public; Cadw’s conservation efforts, installations of touch screens and multi-sensory technology ensure that it a compelling and inclusive place for all visitors. The castle also hosts art exhibitions and other events. Lighting for Effect and Conservation Six of Pulsar’s flagship Luxeos 36 VC floodlights illuminate the gothic-revival facade.
