Locos in a Different Light 2016

“Locos in a Different Light - 2016” Taking place within the great hall of the National Railway Museum in York, Locos in a Different Light aims to challenge students studying the fields of technical lighting, lighting design and associated practices. Having run for eight years, the event draws students from several different colleges. Tasked with visually transforming and enhancing the hall and locomotives within the museum, the students were provided with some of the latest lighting and control technology products, offered by Ambersphere Solutions and Pulsar. Pulsar sales director Dave Cowan was highly impressed with the outcome of the event. “We are so pleased to assist performing Arts students and alike and find this is a very fitting event for them to learn what can be achieved when using light, control and effect. Using a combination of fixtures from both Pulsar and Ambersphere Solutions, this will help many students progress and go on to bigger and brighter

World Record: LED installation – Longest Continuous Service

Back in May 2003 we installed our own LED lighting on the front of the building, confident in its reliability, longevity, and durability. 12 Chroma Panels were installed on the South-facing front of the factory building and have been running 24/7 ever since. We believe this to be a World first with Pulsar holding a World Record for the “Longest Lasting LED Installation.” Fast forward to today and the original ChromaPanels printed with the Pulsar name have clocked an impressive 13 years 10 months of continuous activity – actually surpassing 115,000 hours! This real-world industry first is proof of LED’s amazing longevity and also of Pulsar’s dedication to making the highest quality LED lighting fixtures on the market. In the May of 2005 an additional 21 metres of ChromaStrip2 product were installed on Pulsar’s Facade. Would you believe it, our ChromaStrip2 product has now also surpassed 100,000 hours! Yes, we’ve done it again! The world’s second longest

5 Key Considerations for any Architectural Installation

5 Key Considerations for Any Architectural Lighting Project 1.  Aesthetics The most important aspect of any architectural lighting project is aesthetics; this is why you’re installing lights in the first place, right? Modern LED fixtures such as the Pulsar Luxeos range offer a massive colour palette, and a plethora of different effects can be achieved. However, you don’t have to use everything at once. Exiting colour effects that look stunning on a piece of modern architecture may look gaudy on a heritage building façade. White light doesn’t have to be static; Pulsar’s Vibrant White Luxeos range can create any colour temperature from warm candlelight to tungsten to clear daylight, and anything in between. Dynamically changing colour temperature creates an effect that’s both subtle and interesting. Similarly, the custom RGBW light engines of the Vivid Colour range can create all manner of mixed colours, from bold saturated shades to more subtle pastel hues,

Schmidt Logistics Commercial Warehouse Lighting

Pulsar’s LED UniBay – Once Again the Fixture of Choice

“Pulsar’s outstanding LED UniBay product is once again the fixture of choice for a large-scale fast-track warehouse and logistics development.” Mitesh Mistry - Genprise Delta Construction Co. W.L.L. was selected by the MEP and Structural Consultant to put forward a lighting solution for Schmidt Logistics.  The new warehouse unit consisted of 3 separate halls for a very high profile client in the Oil & Gas industry. The client stipulated that the selected products should be 100% European design and manufacture, with strict performance and reliability criteria. A key design criteria was to ensure adequate lighting levels between racks which were only 2 metres apart, creating narrow aisles, with a ceiling height in excess of 12 metres. Pulsar supplied a project spearheaded by the same Consultant, however there were requirements which had to be met along with a high level of competition from other manufacturers. Various lux levels and options were trialled, with

Al Aujan Warehouses Wanted “British engineering and Innovation”

“I wanted to break the mould and show that a well-manufactured product, with the rich history of British engineering and innovation, would prove that LED technology has a place in the harshest of environments” Mr Neelakanta - CEO of Delta Construction Back in early 2014, Pulsar was invited to bid for a multi-functional warehouse project in Hidd - a largely industrial area on the north east coast of Bahrain. A warehouse in this location, being beside the sea, has several challenges, ranging from high winds and extremely dusty/sandy/salt air conditions, to external temperatures regularly exceed 45 degrees. The client - Al Aujan Group - were building a collection of warehouse units, and the civil, mechanical and electrical works were awarded to Delta Construction. Initial designs by a local consultant were based on using a 400W metal halide solution. Pulsar’s 130W Unibay was selected after a very detailed technical evaluation including testing on site. The UniBay was

Everyone’s a Winner

Pulsar held an open evening for Cambridge Architects and Lighting Designers. The evening consisted of a short presentation followed by a Architectural lighting demonstration. Architects and Designers from Cambridge had the opportunity of meeting members of Pulsar’s team, ranging from Technicians to Engineers, with the opportunity to interact with various product lines, including the Latest Luxeos Range. At the end of an informal yet entertaining evening, Pulsar gave all who attended a chance to win an iPad. The lucky candidate was Jon Capper. Jon Said "Thanks to Pulsar for interesting evening about their latest product releases and the services they can offer to support them, I'd really recommend getting along to their next event" Pulsar would like to say a big Thank you to Ambersphere for the loan of the Mythos, enabling us to demonstrate advanced architectural control integration, and thanks to all that attended, it was a great evening to be involved in. Pulsar Highlights Natural Stone Campus

Pulsar recently added to it’s ever-growing list of Middle East projects with completion of Phases 1 & 2 at the Royal University for Women in Bahrain. A female-only university, the university stands proud in the wealthy Awali district (which is also home to the royal palace and many of Bahrain’s elite). A very select student population consists of members of the royal family, and daughters of diplomats and government officials from Bahrain, and across the GCC, who come to study Fashion, Art and Business amongst many other disciplines. The initial degree programmes of the university were designed in collaboration with McGill University in Canada and Middlesex University in the United Kingdom. After testing on-site with various products, colours and beam angles, Pulsar’s EcoFlood 60 was selected by the University - both for high quality and durability of the fixtures, and their proven ability to survive in the searing heat, high humidity & marine-like conditions. LED Hangar Lights Cake

Free Lights at Diamond Hangar

In Jan 2015, Pulsar worked with Diamond Hangar, Stansted to reduce running costs and also improve light levels throughout their hangar. Diamond Hangar requires high light levels every day, all year round. The lighting structure in place was High Pressure Sodium fittings burning for 3,640 hours per year. With this came huge energy consumption, generating an annual bill in excess of £75,000 for lighting alone. Pulsar’s solution replaced the original 384 HPS units with just 96 x 260W Pulsar Eco Range fixtures. This improved the lux levels at ground level by 2.9x and gave an 85% reduction on their energy bills. This saves Diamond Hangar £64,754 in energy costs every year. Diamond Hangar started getting a return on their new Pulsar LED High Bay Lights immediately. Now, after just 16 months, Pulsar’s high efficiency LED lights have paid for themselves. Or to put it differently, Diamond Hangar’s lights are now free for the next 10-20 years of their life. That’s a lot of
