Pulsar Wins Again

PULSAR WINS AGAIN LUXEOS Range Selected for Iconic Building Our Luxeos Range Outshines the Competition Pulsar Luxeos Range has been selected to illuminate one of the world’s newest, and most technologically advanced buildings. This iconic cultural complex is in one of the harshest environments for luminaires (hot, dusty and corrosive) - all conditions Pulsar products are renowned for withstanding. The centre took 10 years of innovative construction to complete, is over 1 million square feet, and required the most up to date Architectural Lighting solution for its unique and beautiful façade. Pulsar is proud to be part of this highly advanced project and integrating advanced communication, controls and system monitoring to illuminate the buildings with the best in Architectural lighting in the world: Luxeos. The Luxeos range is the latest in Pulsar's Architectural range, supplying superior brightness, Variable White and Vivid Colour along with

“It’s magical”

Pulsar were proud to support a local village community, who transformed a corner of the woods and an old railway hut into Santa's Grotto, providing something to remember for all who attended. “It’s magical!” said a little girl (unprompted) as she gazed up at me with shining eyes and a happy smile. And indeed it was magical. The night was dry (and not too cold), as families and friends arrived from all directions to await Santa’s arrival, heralded by the switching on of the lights. The Glow Trail stretched invitingly through the woodland. The Christmas Tree with its hundreds of twinkling bright white lights contrasted with a backdrop of trees in ever changing colours. Peace doves fluttered in the trees. Gifts on a stall glittered brightly in the lights. Log fires glowed in the darkness. And at the centre, Santa’s Grotto, lit with a warm. welcoming glow, while inside, beautiful Christmassy decorations decked the walls. A queue of excited children quickly formed to visit

Campaign for Fair Warranties: The fight continues

Campaign for Fair Warranties: Pulsar's M.D. reading our - No Nonsense Warranty! at Lux Live 2016. In the special panel discussion, manufacturers, customers and the team from Lux’s Campaign for Fair Warranties to assess the state of customer protection in the lighting industry. Speaker(s): Brian Pohl of Pulsar Light, David Mooney of Atkins, Gordon Routledge of Lux, Mark O'Connor of Saturn LED, Michael Schrempp of Munich RE LED manufacturers sometimes make bold lifespan claims about their products and the reliability of these claims often rests on the quality of the luminaire. Warranties should protect consumers from poor product performance, but in the lighting industry warranties are not always fair and can be misleading. In some cases warranties dramatically overstate the likely lifespan of their products. A ten-year warranty, for example, does not take into account the complications of long-term LED operation and wouldn’t be offered by a reliable company. Sometimes

Pulsar Celebrate World Record 100,000 Hours Installation

“World Record: LED Installation - Longest Continuous Service” Pulsar celebrated their second World Record 100,000 installation with an event for staff and key customers new and historic. The team at Pulsar, has over 700 years collective experience of product design, manufacturing and long term testing. This would not have been achieved without the great team behind the name – Pulsar. The ChromaStrip, which was designed for external use, have withstood all the elements can throw at them for more than 11 years. Demonstrating our ethos of reliability and longevity, the ChromaStrips have been continuously running ever since they were first switched on in 2004. Andrew Hilbert states: “Whilst the ‘headline’ is the longevity of the LED’s, it is the driver components that keep those LED’s operating. Each ChromaStrip2 has 30 LED’s and more than 40 driver components which have also operated for 100,000 hours. A luminaire is only as reliable as it’s least

5 Key Considerations for any Architectural Installation

5 Key Considerations for Any Architectural Lighting Project 1.  Aesthetics The most important aspect of any architectural lighting project is aesthetics; this is why you’re installing lights in the first place, right? Modern LED fixtures such as the Pulsar Luxeos range offer a massive colour palette, and a plethora of different effects can be achieved. However, you don’t have to use everything at once. Exiting colour effects that look stunning on a piece of modern architecture may look gaudy on a heritage building façade. White light doesn’t have to be static; Pulsar’s Vibrant White Luxeos range can create any colour temperature from warm candlelight to tungsten to clear daylight, and anything in between. Dynamically changing colour temperature creates an effect that’s both subtle and interesting. Similarly, the custom RGBW light engines of the Vivid Colour range can create all manner of mixed colours, from bold saturated shades to more subtle pastel hues,

Schmidt Logistics Commercial Warehouse Lighting

Pulsar’s LED UniBay – Once Again the Fixture of Choice

“Pulsar’s outstanding LED UniBay product is once again the fixture of choice for a large-scale fast-track warehouse and logistics development.” Mitesh Mistry - Genprise Delta Construction Co. W.L.L. was selected by the MEP and Structural Consultant to put forward a lighting solution for Schmidt Logistics.  The new warehouse unit consisted of 3 separate halls for a very high profile client in the Oil & Gas industry. The client stipulated that the selected products should be 100% European design and manufacture, with strict performance and reliability criteria. A key design criteria was to ensure adequate lighting levels between racks which were only 2 metres apart, creating narrow aisles, with a ceiling height in excess of 12 metres. Pulsar supplied a project spearheaded by the same Consultant, however there were requirements which had to be met along with a high level of competition from other manufacturers. Various lux levels and options were trialled, with

Al Aujan Warehouses Wanted “British engineering and Innovation”

“I wanted to break the mould and show that a well-manufactured product, with the rich history of British engineering and innovation, would prove that LED technology has a place in the harshest of environments” Mr Neelakanta - CEO of Delta Construction Back in early 2014, Pulsar was invited to bid for a multi-functional warehouse project in Hidd - a largely industrial area on the north east coast of Bahrain. A warehouse in this location, being beside the sea, has several challenges, ranging from high winds and extremely dusty/sandy/salt air conditions, to external temperatures regularly exceed 45 degrees. The client - Al Aujan Group - were building a collection of warehouse units, and the civil, mechanical and electrical works were awarded to Delta Construction. Initial designs by a local consultant were based on using a 400W metal halide solution. Pulsar’s 130W Unibay was selected after a very detailed technical evaluation including testing on site. The UniBay was

Everyone’s a Winner

Pulsar held an open evening for Cambridge Architects and Lighting Designers. The evening consisted of a short presentation followed by a Architectural lighting demonstration. Architects and Designers from Cambridge had the opportunity of meeting members of Pulsar’s team, ranging from Technicians to Engineers, with the opportunity to interact with various product lines, including the Latest Luxeos Range. At the end of an informal yet entertaining evening, Pulsar gave all who attended a chance to win an iPad. The lucky candidate was Jon Capper. Jon Said "Thanks to Pulsar for interesting evening about their latest product releases and the services they can offer to support them, I'd really recommend getting along to their next event" Pulsar would like to say a big Thank you to Ambersphere for the loan of the Mythos, enabling us to demonstrate advanced architectural control integration, and thanks to all that attended, it was a great evening to be involved in.
